Today was the first day I am trying to adhere to the training plan I created with Claude. It has me running 7 miles this week, with a 3 mile run as my "long run". I am planning on splitting that up into two 2 mile runs, and a 3 mile run, with the 3 mile run sandwiched in between the 2 mile runs.
It is also the first day I ran before work - it wasn't bad but I didn't set out until about 8 AM, by which time the downtown Cleveland business worker beees are all flooding in, so it was pretty trafficky. I will try to ease into earlier and earlier runs, which is easier said than done for me as I'm not a morning person.
I ran down to Voinovich park on the E 9th St pier, and was planning to run down by the stadium but the bridge connecting the park to the stadium area was closed. Looked like they were doing some maintenance on it. So instead I just ran down in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum and the science museum. In the end, I pretty accurately hit the 2 mile mark.
It was also my 2 mile PR time since I started training again - a whopping 10:08/mi pace. Far cry from my days in the Army, but I'll be happy if I get down to an 8:00/mi pace.
Fall is just about here, and Winter is coming, which is certainly going to make my runs more of a struggle. I don't like treadmill runs but a large part of my training calendar overlaps with brutal Cleveland winter weather.
