Experience
Senior Software Engineer · DraftKings
Dec 2023 – Present · Remote
- Build event-driven C# microservices on Kubernetes and Kafka for the Sports Betting Pricing Flow, where every second of delay in a price update is an opening for sharp bettors.
- Keep processing under 100 ms for sports-model output of up to 50,000 simulations, using BenchmarkDotNet to make performance work measurable and cutting allocations on hot paths.
- Develop the Rust library that turns model output (ndarray counters) into bet probabilities, such as the odds a player scores 20+ points, and the C# FFI layer that calls it. Moving this math from C# to Rust made it much faster.
- Worked on the cashout pricing flow, which continuously recalculates the probabilities of open bets and same-game parlay (SGP) combinations across millions of events per minute.
- Led projects to expand SGP cashout to more sports and to build pricing for prediction market making.
- On call for nearly all of my tenure, quickly resolving numerous production incidents.
Software Engineer II · Aerostrat
Mar 2021 – Dec 2023 · Remote
- Implemented the backend logic for multiple features using .NET 4.7 and Entity Framework. Integrated support for SQL Server temporal table queries into Entity Framework 6.2 as the basis for the product-wide auditing solution.
- Migrated Entity Framework for the monolithic backend service from database-first to code-first.
- Designed and implemented an Azure-hosted internal network, reached over VPN, that hosted the business team's customer support tools.
- Troubleshot and fixed concurrency-related issues that arose as usage of the primary backend API grew.
- Wrote unit tests to cover new and existing code, using Moq and NUnit.
Software Engineer · Alarm.com
Jun 2019 – Mar 2021 · Tysons Corner, VA
- Delivered multiple new features and integrated new Access Control controller hardware into the Alarm.com ecosystem, working with .NET on the backend and Ember.js on the frontend.
- Filled gaps in internal documentation for integrating third-party Access Control hardware; it became training material for new team members and a reference for new features.
- Implemented customizable rules such as 'Double-swipe badge to unlock doors' by programming Access Control controllers across the wire, plus the frontend for choosing which doors unlock and troubleshooting tools for dealers.
- At an internal hackathon, built an accessibility feature giving designated users more time to open doors after badging in.
Signals Intelligence Analyst · United States Army
Jan 2010 – Jan 2019
- Received an ARCOM award for productivity-enhancing Perl scripts that saved thousands of man-hours.
- Served as the training NCO for an office of 20, building the training material and training incoming soldiers. Mentored soldiers on Linux and Solaris with creative approaches such as a command-line choose-your-own-adventure game that taught basic shell commands.
