Belt and Beats
Route & elevation
Today I whipped out some old and new running gear. The first and newest to me was a running belt. I just got a cheap one on Amazon, with a pocket big enough to hold my phone. In the past, I have experimented with armband holders for phones and built-in pockets in running shorts.
This was the first bit of gear that made me forget the phone was there. Time will tell if the experience holds as the miles creep up, but at 4 miles I felt no discomfort, neither from annoying jiggling around nor from obnoxious tightness. The waist seems like a good place for my phone.
Now that I had my phone on me, I also grabbed my old Powerbeats and listened to some music during my run. I don't know that it had any great impact on my run performance, but it did help keep me engaged and squashed the boredom that can creep in on longer runs.
Eventually, I know I will want some way to pack some hydration for runs as well, and I will need to upgrade to something like a running vest. For now, though, the belt is great; I could even squeeze in some gels if needed.
Speaking purely on the run: today felt good. The sun was out, but it was about 60 degrees or so, and there was a nice cool breeze helping keep my temperature down. I am still loving this lakeside route, as you can probably tell from the repeated pattern on most of my recent runs.
